Your paycheque – check every detail

Your pay is your right. That’s why it’s essential to check every week that the hours you are paid match the hours you worked, including:

  • regular and overtime hours
  • premiums
  • your safety equipment allowance

Your employer must also remit amounts to the CCQ each month for your social benefits, including:

  • vacation pay (13% of your gross wages, paid twice a year)
    • 6% annual vacation
    • 5.5% statutory holidays
    • 1.5% sick leave
  • MÉDIC Construction insurance
  • pension plan contributions

Other deductions

Union and sectoral dues are deducted and sent to the CCQ, then redistributed to your union. To fund CCQ mandates, your employer also deducts 0.75% of your gross wages. Mandatory deductions such as income tax, Employment Insurance, QPP and QPIP also appear on your paycheque.
