Insurance – what to know if you stop working

Did you know that you may be able to keep your MÉDIC insurance coverage if you are unable to work? This applies, for example, if you are:

  • On preventive withdrawal or breastfeeding leave (receiving CNESST benefits)
  • On maternity, paternity, parental or adoption leave (receiving QPIP benefits)
  • On caregiver leave (receiving Employment Insurance benefits)
  • Recognized as totally disabled by MÉDIC Construction
  • See all situations that may apply.

To apply, you must complete the Hours Credit Application form and send it to the CCQ as soon as possible.

If you are covered by a supplemental insurance plan, hours credits will also be granted.

Deadline to use hours credits

If you have not submitted your application and you are already in one of the situations listed above, you may recover hours credits up to one year after the start of the event that makes you eligible.

If you have questions about hours credits, contact our team.
